About Me
Where I Come From
I am a software engineer with deep expertise in geospatial and earth data. I'm a US citizen based in Vancouver, Canada. I have:
- 8 years of experience working with and analyzing geospatial data
- 5 years of experience as a software developer, with an emphasis on data management and the commercial cloud
- 3 years of experience studying or researching climate science
I’ve designed and built data pipelines, worked on cross-functional technical teams, and grappled with agency-level metadata standards. My roles have been varied, but the theme in each is that I use technology to help people derive actionable insight from earth data.
I believe that all development should be user-focused (because who else could it be for?). I believe that open source software unlocks incredible community potential in both the public and private sectors. I believe that there will always be more to learn. I believe that teams build software systems, not individuals, and that being a good team member is just as important as being a good engineer.
Where I'd Like to Go Next
I’m currently looking for roles in software engineering or data management, with a particular interest in geospatial or earth science data. Open source involvement is a strong plus.
